属于节肢动物门，甲壳动物亚门，软甲纲，掠虾亚纲，口足目。分布范围极广，从俄罗斯的大彼得海湾到日本及中国沿海、菲律宾、马来半岛、夏威夷群岛均有分布。虾蛄多穴居，常在浅海沙底或泥沙底掘穴，穴多为"U"字形。为肉食性，多捕食小型无脊椎动物。此类动物能以尾肢摩擦尾节腹面或以掠肢打击而发声。虾蛄性情凶猛，视力十分锐利。

It’s carnivorous,often lives on small invertebrates.
