俗称长江刀鱼、毛花鱼、野毛鱼、梅鲚等,鲱形目,鳀科,鲚属.分布于中国长江流域、亚洲马来西亚、亚马逊河、婆罗洲西部、普吉岛的淡水半咸水水域.刀鲚为洄游性鱼类，平时生活在海里，每年2～3月份长颌鲚由海入江，并溯江而上进行生殖洄游。
