亦称"镜鱼"，辐鳍亚纲，鲈形目，鲳亚目，鲳科，鲳属。分布于印度洋和西太平洋。我国沿海均产之，东海与南海较多。喜欢在阴影处成群，小潮时鱼群更为集中。为海洋洄游鱼类。为近海暖温性中下层鱼类，平时分散栖息于潮流缓慢，水深5米-10米的水域，早晨及黄昏时在水中上层活动，不甚活跃。
