别称牛尾鱼、刀甲、竹甲、百甲鱼.硬骨鱼纲，辐鳍鱼亚纲，鲉形目，鲬科，鲬属。分布于印度洋-太平洋地区和东大西洋的热带区。为近海底层鱼类，栖息于浅海区域，一般埋于海底的泥沙中，行动缓慢，一般不结成大群。主食各种小型鱼类和甲壳动物等。

This species belongs to the family of Platycephalidae,order of Scorpaeniformes,also known as Indian flathead,sand gurnard.Distributed in the Indian Ocean - the Pacific and the eastern Atlantic tropical zone.It likes to live in the shallow sea bottom, and live alone.It mainly lives on other small fish and crustaceans.
