别名凤尾鱼、河刀鱼、烤子鱼。有很大食用价值。分布于北太平洋西部,平时栖息于浅海河口带，于春、夏季进入浅水水域作生殖洄游。在我国较大江河、湖泊均有产，尤以长江中、下游最多。其主要产地在太湖及南通市等地。
